PDO Threads
PDO Threads are a non-surgical, minimally invasive treatment designed to lift and tighten sagging skin, stimulate collagen production, and improve skin texture using absorbable sutures made of polydioxanone (PDO). Often referred to as a “thread lift,” this treatment provides subtle, natural-looking lifting and rejuvenation without the need for surgery or extended downtime.
After numbing the treatment area with a local anesthetic, fine PDO threads are strategically inserted under the skin using a thin needle or cannula. Once in place, the threads create an immediate lifting effect while also stimulating the body’s natural production of collagen over time. The threads gradually dissolve over several months, but the lifting and tightening effects can last much longer due to increased collagen and tissue support. There are different types of PDO threads (lifting, smooth, and twisting), and they can be customized based on your goals—whether for contouring the jawline, lifting the cheeks, smoothing lines around the mouth, or tightening the neck.
Downtime is generally minimal. Some swelling, mild bruising, and tenderness may occur for a few days after the procedure. Most people can return to normal activities within 24–48 hours, though it’s advised to avoid strenuous activity, facial massages, or exaggerated facial movements for about a week.
An immediate lift is often visible right after the procedure, especially with barbed threads used for lifting. However, full results develop gradually over the next 4 to 6 weeks as collagen builds, with improvements continuing for up to 3–6 months. Results typically last 12–18 months, depending on the area treated and individual skin condition. Maintenance treatments can help prolong the effects.
